Our Fourth Month: By the Numbers

13,155: Total number of miles traveled (Stevens Point, WI to Seattle, WA)
2,719: Number of miles traveled in June
18.9: Total average MPG (we normally get about 30 mpg when not pulling the trailer)
21: Nights spent in the Burro in June
15: Nights spent in friends' and family's homes and yards in June (thank you, Kelli, Kevin, Fran, Corky, Joey, and Kendra!)
2: Nights spent for free in Oregon rest areas (thank you, Oregon!)
18: Total number of states visited
7: Number of National Park/Monument sites visited in June (Golden Gate NRA, Muir Woods NM, Rosie the Riveter NHP, John Muir NHS, Redwoods NP, Mount Rainier NP, Olympic NP)
$190: Number of dollars saved by using our America the Beautiful Annual Pass to get into federal recreation sites (thank you, Mom and Dad Buchholz!)
2: Number of Regional Parks visited in June (Sibley Volcanic Reserve, Big Break Regional Shoreline)
3: Number of lighthouses visited along the Oregon Coast (Cape Blanco, Heceta Head, Cape Meares)
65: Number of miles (at least) that we hiked in June (Daddy's back hurts just typing the number)
124: Number of times someone sees Jim carrying Walden on his back and says, "I wish someone would carry me like that" (Jim may explode if this number increases)
32: Number of plums and lemons we ate from the orchards around John Muir’s historic house in Martinez, CA (yes, it was allowed!)
2: Number of days we had rain in the past two months (and not full days! We’ve been very fortunate!)
1st’s: Notable first experiences for Walden… tasting S’mores, eating Johnsonville brats, watching a fireworks show. Notable first experiences for Jim and Sunshine… eating oysters, clams, and mussels, picking salmonberries.
134: Number of times we read the “Good Night, Seattle” book to Walden before he FINALLY got to see all of the sites for real (Space Needle, Mount Rainier, Ballard Locks, Lake Union house boats, etc.)
8,980: Length (in feet) of the Golden Gate Bridge we walked over twice (Jim had wanted to visit since he was a little boy!)
605: Height (in feet) of the Space Needle that Walden begged to go to the top of... so we did (okay, Daddy may have been begging a bit too)
Countless: Number of times we got turned around and confused in the crazy San Francisco and Seattle traffic (guess we’re not big city people)
15: Longest number of minutes it took us to go one mile in Seattle
2: Number of times we accidentally went over a toll bridge in Seattle when we didn’t need to (darn Google Maps)
4.50: Most we paid for gas (in dollars)
7,370: Total number of photos taken on the trip (that’ll be one heck of a photo book)
Too Many: Places we want to go back and spend more time at.
