Our First Month: By the Numbers

This is what happens after a month
on the road!
On April 4th, we celebrated one month of being on the road on our life journey. What's happened to the time?! Here is our first month "by the numbers"...

4,290: Number of miles traveled
(Stevens Point, WI to Krum, TX)
18.7: Average MPG (we normally get about 30 mpg without pulling the trailer)
22: Nights spent in the Burro
4: Nights spent in relatives' homes (thank you!)
3: Nights spent in a hotel (hey, it was cold in the beginning!)
2: Nights spent in the tent (on the beach at Perdido Key)
11: Number of states visited
4: Families/friends visited (the Meyers in TN, Wards and Salms in GA, Kapustas and Torres in GA, Susan in TX)
2: Number of beaches camped on (Perdido Key, Holly Beach)
78: Number of sand flea bites on Jim's leg after apparently stepping on their nest at Holly Beach
6: Number of National Park sites visited (Mammoth Cave, Great Smoky Mountains, Fort Frederica Monument, Gulf Islands Seashore, Jean Lafitte Historic Park, Big Thicket Preserve)
4: Number of National Wildlife Refuges visited (Okefenokee Swamp, St. Marks, Cameron Prairie, Sabine)
1: Number of National Forests visited (Apalachicola)
1: Number of National Estuarine Research Reserves visited (Apalachicola)
7: Number of State Parks/Forests visited (Tallulah Gorge, A.H. Stephens, Jekyll Island, Bald Point, St. George Island, Tate's Hell, Fontainebleau)
6: Number of nature centers/museums visited (Conner Prairie Historic Park, Indianapolis Children's Museum, Ijams NC, Sandy Creek NC, Birchmore Nature Trail, Gulf Specimen Marine Lab)
24: Number of trips to a playground
3: Number of unique travel modes (bicycles on Jekyll Island, streetcar in New Orleans, ferry on Creole Nature Trail)
2: Number of birthdays celebrated on the road (Jim and Sunshine... Walden's is this Saturday!)
30+: Number of alligators spotted (Georgia, Florida, and Louisiana)
12: Number of times we knocked our heads on the top of the Burro door before attaching soft padding
3: Number of days spent caulking windows, greasing bearings, repairing shelves, and fixing the refrigerator on the Burro
186: Number of diapers used
762: Number of times Walden watched Curious George on the iPad (in fact, he's watching as I type this!)
2,313: Number of photos taken by Jim (sigh, better start sorting)
Countless: Smiles, hugs, memories... and temper tantrums
